What a great gift these wonderful mittens will make for the working man, hunter, sailor or soldier! These mittens are knitted on four double pointed needles, size US 2 (2.75mm) and are made with 100% wool for durability and warmth. With active use, the yarn fibers will bond to form an almost impentrable barrier against dampness and cold. The pattern for these mittens are written in three varieties - the first plain  mitten is meant to be worn on the non-dominant hand. There are two other varieties with the index finger apart from the rest of the mitten, making your hands more adept for active use. 16 Pages. This edition is a picture book of charted Filet Crochet patterns. There is an instruction page on how to make Filet Crochet, but there are NO instructions with the individual designs. This is simple work to recreate, and if you can crochet, you can make these lovely designs. The patterns includ a lovely lace collar, a rooster, birds, church laces plus much more. Filet Crochet is becoming more popular today, and lovely charts such as these are often difficult to find. There are a wide range of topic included here and a whole page dedicated to instructions in this work. The images are large and easy to follow, and most are conveniently charted.

The work is in crochet, filet crochet and tatting and the items include a combinations suit and an evening gown comisole. The yokes in this book are stunning! Although this kind of work is not recommended for the novice, there is a world of education to be found here. Our Grandmothers were masters with hook, needle and shuttle - books such as this will bring them back to teach us how they learned their art. A beautiful collection!

This edition from the year of the Titanic has only a few patterns that appeared in other editions. There are clothing items for everyone in the household - including even a crocheted bridle for your horse! Everything can be found here from afghans to slippers. There are also infant's clothing, sweaters for all ages, shawls, hats, mittens. Much to much to mention everything! What treasures these old manuals were!
